• PETG – A good balance of strength, durability and ease of printing; great for functional/ mechanical parts or parts needing durability.
• ABS – Suitable for parts that need strength, rigidity, or heat resistance. Good for mechanical or load-bearing parts (though requires proper bed & setup).
• TPU (Flexible filament) – Use where flexibility is required: e.g. gaskets, wearable items, protective parts, or flexible components.
• Specialty / effect filaments – For creative, aesthetic or specialty projects (e.g. colour-changing, textured, decorative).
Choose based on what you want to print (model, functional part, flexible item, decorative piece) and what the requirements are (strength, flexibility, finish, environmental exposure).

3. Does filament expire or get spoiled over time?

Yes — many filaments (especially PETG, Nylon, or other hygroscopic types) can absorb moisture from air, which degrades print quality (causes bubbles, poor adhesion, weak layers). We recommend storing filaments in airtight containers with desiccant packs, especially in humid climates, to preserve quality.

4. What diameter and filament specs should I choose for my printer?

Most modern desktop 3D printers accept 1.75 mm filament diameter. Before ordering, check your printer’s specification. Also pay attention to tolerance/diameter consistency, filament roundness, and moisture content — these affect print reliability and quality.

5. Do I need special printer settings or accessories for different filament types?

Yes. Depending on the filament:
• Some (like ABS) might require a heated bed and/or enclosed build chamber to avoid warping.
• Flexible filaments (like TPU) often need slower print speeds and sometimes a direct-drive extruder for best results.
• For specialty or composite filaments (e.g. carbon-fiber, metal-filled), a hardened nozzle may be recommended to resist wear.

6. What if a filament causes printing problems (warping, poor adhesion, clogged nozzle)?

Common causes include: inappropriate material for the project (e.g. using PLA for heat-exposed parts), moisture-absorbed filament, inconsistent diameter, wrong bed/nozzle temperature, or improper settings. We recommend checking slicing & printer settings, verifying filament storage condition, and if needed — contact us with your spool batch and order number so we can assist or replace the filament.

7. Can I use Beelayers filaments for functional parts (mechanical parts, load-bearing parts)?

Absolutely — filaments like PETG, ABS, or specialty durable materials are suitable for functional parts, mechanical projects, or prototypes that need strength and durability. Just be sure your printer supports required settings (heated bed, nozzle temp, etc.) and follow recommended print parameters.

8. How should I store filament when not in use?

To prolong shelf life and maintain print quality:
• Keep filament in airtight containers or vacuum-sealed bags with desiccants.
• Store in a cool, dry place — avoid humid or high-temperature environments, which can degrade filament over time.

9. What if I’m new to 3D printing — what filament do you recommend for beginners?

For beginners or simple projects, we recommend PLA because it’s easiest to print (low warping, low shrinkage, no heated bed needed). Once you become comfortable, you can try PETG or TPU for more functional or flexible prints.
